I met Jean-Marc when I ran a fishing school, he was one of my first students.If I had to caracterize him with one word I would say helpful.He's the kind of guy you can trust and rely on.He lives only 10 km from home so we meet and fish together very often.He's a quiet guy and although he's a very experienced fisherman he always asks for advice and often underestimates himself.He's always in good mood so he's a great fishing buddy.We went to Austria several times together and had a good...

Diving headfirst into fly tying

So I picked up a vise and a bucketload of materials and have been tying like crazy. I tried that "tie 100 wooly buggers approach" but made it through five before wanting to try all sorts of crazy patterns. Now buggers are tied in all colors in between other patterns as technique practice and box filler, because I still love buggers and know that I will never have enough. Tie number 6 was a crayfish pattern that I basically BSed after looking at photos of real crayfish and some patterns...

I was asked to interview Jan for a french magazine in the early nineties.At that time he had already been France champion twice and bronze medal in the World Championship.So when I met him first and fished with him all afternoon before the interview I was a bit intimidated but I discovered a kind guy and we had a good time together.Since then we've become friends and even if we don't meet very often ,we always keep in touch and go fishing together a few times a year.When he stopped taking...
