Posted 02-24-2011 at 06:19 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Unless early March brings some warmer days and melts the ramps over on the South Fork.

Looks like we'll have to learn a new river here in Jackson too. With this much snow the runoff will definitely...

2011 Season Starter Within Sight

Posted 02-18-2011 at 09:07 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well it has been a long winter. Now I'm prepping gear and shoveling out the boat. Want to be ready when a warm day comes around. The itch to go fishing has gotten pretty bad and needs a cure!!

We got a lot of snow this winter so the runoff may be longer and higher than usual. With that in mind I want to be ready for any opportunity to fish the preseason.

The normal is a late fall wind storm and an early spring blow. This season has been harsh to say the least. We had our first wind in September and another by mid October. These were followed by a bad one right behind Thanksgiving that lasted 5 days and now we just finished a 4 day blow this morning. When I say 'blow' i am talking about...

After a New Years warming trend that has left the lane that leads to our home a solid mass of ice the weather has once again turned cold. No appreciable snow fall since I last wrote just enough warm weather & rain to make things interesting.

The days are slowly lengthening and the climb from darkness will be a slow one until the middle of February. At this time the changes in sun up & sun down become pretty obvious and you begin to feel some energy seeping back into your mussels...
