First Guiding Trip 2011

Posted 08-28-2011 at 06:57 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Man does it hurt to say this, I just did my first guiding trip for the 2011 season. It has been one weird water year to say the least. To not start fishing till early August and not pick up any paid trips till the end of August makes for a tough season.

Good news is the river is in really good shape and only going to get better. Water is still a bit high for this time of year, but the clarity has really improved. There are a lot of riffles exposed and the fish should be stacking up...

Friday 08/19 Mcnerney and I floated the Canyon stretch of the South Fork. The weather was great as was the company, always a pleasure floating with Larry. Would have been nice to get a few more members to join the fun but everyone was busy.

It feels strange to have the first South Fork float take place in the 3rd week of August. Even stranger to still see the effects of run off. There is a lot of water and it's still a bit off color. But not bad enough to stop the fishing!! water conditions...

Posted 08-20-2011 at 09:42 PM by mbphotos54

Well I decided to go back out to the creek after work today, being short on leaders I was stuck using a 1x leader that I used a few weeks ago and was a bit short. how ever this worked to my advantage because i ended up using a bullgill popper and it flew it great. several good nice sunfish and a near landing of a catfish.. DOh! spit it out about 10 ft from me... then as I was heading back to the car I seen one dark hole and figured I better check... as soon as the popper hit the water the water...
