more casting in the yard tonight, I think I am getting better. I cleaned the line and rod and the casting was nicer, I also tried a stiffer shorter rod and kinda like the way it casts, It seems my loops are more open and the tip doesnt bounch around when I stop the rod, how to get back out on the water this week. if these storms would stop flooding the creek..

Well, I had the chance to get to the pond for a few hours today, I was hoping to have some good luck but this is fishing. By the time I got the the pond the shore I could cast from was already crowded so I was limited to one 50ft swatch of shore, no biggie. about 3 fly changes in I decided to try a popper, wasnt sure what to expect being the biggest fly I have casted so far. few casts in I watched the popper get a hit! was one of the biggest bluegills I have seen in along time, big enough it was...

Tarpon Day 7= Final Day

Posted 06-26-2011 at 08:20 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

About 10 minutes after we arrive on our spot 2 other boat came slowly cruising up and then motor for other waters. The wind was up and there was a fair amount of cloud cover but this was predicted to clear up before noon. Things were looking good!!

Due to our early start and arrival on site we had...

well I was going to head to the pond tonight, but it will have to wait. So i did some yard casting instead. Not sure if its the combo of the gear I have or just me but the line and loops wiggle about mid stroke.. otherwise my side arm casting at a faster pace does ok. I was able to set the fly down in the same place repeditivly, and no knots this time! yeah! weather permitting ill hit the pond tomarrow.

Tarpon Day 6 = Everglades

Posted 06-25-2011 at 10:48 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

In an attempt to right the wrong off to many libations the night before and pulling a no show on day5 our guide offered a run over to the Everglades. Hard to turn that trip down!! We have made this trip a few times over the years and if we had a trailer for Dads boat we would do it more often.

Guide arrived to pick us up very promptly this morning and we were off to Flamingo. We put in on the inside and headed out the channel to Coot Bay. Crossed Coot Bay to Tarpon Creek and into Whitewater...
