Wyoming Fishing with Dorian, Nov 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 06:25 PM by mcnerney

A few years ago we had an active member Dorian.Ducker here on the forum and at one point Davo and I were all set to do a float with Dorian on the South Fork of the Snake, but Dorian had to back out at the last minute as his wife was expecting any day. Last week, I received a surprise PM from Dorian, he had moved from Idaho to Utah, changed jobs and now was looking to go fishing in Wyoming, so we decided to head down to the Green River and see what we could dredge up. We have been having winter...

Wyoming Fly Fishing in the Fall, Oct 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 06:03 PM by mcnerney

With the recent warm spell here in Western Wyoming, I have been taking advantage of the nice wx and getting out on the water. Over the weekend I had a friend from Casper (Rick) come over and we fished together on the Green and a small stream to change things up.
A nice Rainbow:

South Fork of the Snake River, ID, Sept 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 05:56 PM by mcnerney

Yesterday I did a float trip on the South Fork of the Snake River, what a wonderful experience that was. This was a first for me to get on that water this late in the year with the water flows cut way back. I know over the years that Kelly has said how good this river can be in the winter with the low flows, but I had never experienced it. Palisades Reservoir is primarily intended to provide irrigation water to the Idaho farmers and ranchers downstream, so they cut the water flow way back in...

Fishin' Kelly's No Tellum' Spring Creek, Sept 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 05:55 PM by mcnerney

Last week Brian (Liphookedau) was up in Alaska salmon fishing with Ard, then he flew into Jackson and I drove up to pick him up and go fishing together. At the time I was really undecided on where to go. I was really thinking about going into the NE section of Yellowstone NP, but when I saw the mob of tourists in Jackson (after Labor Day) and the progression of cars headed north into the park, I talked it over with Brian and we decided to head to Idaho and invade Kelly's No Tellum' Spring Creek....

Henry's Fork Fly Fishing Trip, Sept 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 05:52 PM by mcnerney

My friend Pete (from Laramie) and I just got back from four days fishing in the Island Park, ID area, mainly fishing the Henry's Fork. We took Pete's Air Stream up and camped at the Buffalo Run RV park in Island Park. Day one we hired a guide from Trout Hunters to float the north section of the railroad ranch. We found out quickly how difficult the fishing was going to be. Before we launched the guide told us that they measure a good day by each angler getting two eats (not fish landed). We...
