As for the fly in question I agree that it is essentially a wooly bugger. I would make a tube fly for that with a single hook. The 2 hook thing isn't something I've ever needed.
Thank you that's the one I couldn't remember the name but knew they...

Boss's nose that is........

It's been a week now since Boss and I came back from our last winter stay at Hewitt Lake. Because I have been a life long dog lover I always take pictures of him while we're there, not so many at home but always while fishing or at the cabin. I believe those are his happiest times, his ears perk up at the word 'fishen' but I'm not so sure he enjoys the 3.5 hour freight sled rides to and from the cabin. Ostrmidge

Posted 03-29-2017 at 01:00 AM by americanzero

Tied a bumble bee last night, I'm quite happy with how it came out. Dubbed alternating yellow and black segments with some fluffy duck feather wings. Tonight my shining achievement was the Ostrmidge. Size 18 midge hook tied with white ostrich herl, came out looking way buggy. Now I am almost out of hooks. I'm already filling my online cart for aprils order!0

Improving

Took the night off last night, made up for it tonight. I am mostly still working the same 3-4 patterns I have learned, trying to really get a lock the basic skills.

Gray dun

Posted 03-19-2017 at 12:05 AM by americanzero

Tied a gray dun tonight! First real success I have had with hackle feathers. Pretty happy with how it came out. Also tied a shwaf and a few others I have already done once. I am getting a better idea of what I need. Blue dubbing, blue thread, pheasant tail feather. Curved point scissors would be helpful. Still fighting the small sized whip finisher, really need to get a normal sized one.
