Tease of fall

Posted 09-08-2011 at 10:07 PM by mbphotos54

I dont know if anyone else has been hit with the sudden cold fall like weather I have here in KY, but it has been 50-60 degrees and light drizzle all week. I decided to get on the creek for a hour or two this evening in the foggy drizzle, I will say I will take that over the 90-100 degrees we had a few weeks ago. but I for won dont want summer to end just yet. I may have to get waders soon..

Ps, did catch a few tiny bass. and had no luck getting a carp to take..

First Guiding Trip 2011

Posted 08-28-2011 at 06:57 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Man does it hurt to say this, I just did my first guiding trip for the 2011 season. It has been one weird water year to say the least. To not start fishing till early August and not pick up any paid trips till the end of August makes for a tough season.

Good news is the river is in really good shape and only going to get better. Water is still a bit high for this time of year, but the clarity has really improved. There are a lot of riffles exposed and the fish should be stacking up...

A Fish Story

The story / remembrance you are about to read is based on actual events, no names were changed to protect the innocent

One early morning while fishing Spring Creek in Pennsylvania I was having what I would call reasonable results and had managed a few pretty nice brown trout. All of the fish caught were of good size, however my fishing partner of about 20 years at that time had caught nothing. I offered him a fly of my design 'The Answer' but he declined....
