Well, here's the first post to my first blog. Ever. I don't know where this is going or what I'm going to end up talking about. I just have been getting this itch to say something besides my semi-weekly posts/threads on the forum for some time now, and so here it goes.

The Beginning.

I probably caught my first fish (a small catfish) from a tiny pond near Columbia, MO before I was four years old. I was teaching my little brother how to cast two years later. By...

A Fish Story

I should start this story by saying I'd been skunked two days in a row. So, I was a bit frustrated.

So when a buddy of mine, Muzz, asks me if I want to go fishing for the weekend up north during the "super" moon, I hesitated. Apparently, this weekend the full moon would be bigger and brighter than any we've had in a thousand years or whatever. This will most assuredly get the fish into a wild feeding frenzy. The 2012 Bear Encounter;

Posted 04-12-2015 at 01:26 PM by Hardyreels

During July I had became so desperate for fresh salmon I drove all the way to Chitna on the Copper River to try my hand at dip netting for sockeye. All I can tell you about this adventure is...

Fishing Streamers, Where & When Part 1;

Posted 03-14-2015 at 01:47 PM by Hardyreels

Sometimes I don’t know what will be the best way to explain something about fishing to other people. Should it be a nuts & bolts ‘How To’ kind of message or should it be related through a story. I can become easily bored with either methood and I worry when I start off writing something. Will it make sense? Like everything I write into the threads here this will be something that represents an opinion. It is my opinion but I reach this type of assessment through years of practice so I'll share...

Streamers, Where & When Part 2;

Posted 03-14-2015 at 01:47 PM by Hardyreels

So, where was I............

One of my best examples would come from history, my own times fishing on Pennsylvania’s famous Penn’s Creek. There is a very large pool, I mean long, wide and deep that exists about ¾ mile below where little Cherry Run dumps its freestone water into the big limestoner. This pool was a favored place for a friend of mine some 16 years ago and he always ask if I wanted to travel down there with him when the Green Drake’s were on the water. On my second years...
