Due to my busy work schedule, I haven't had time to fish much the last 10 days or so. Every once in a while I have these dry stretches of time, and generally it leads to a few predictable mental destinations-
1. A tendency to be more cranky and less patient in day to day stuff (I need the space the river provides me!).

2. I find myself wandering around the area of...

A Fish I Never Caught

Posted 06-24-2014 at 08:23 AM by mridenour

Sunday, my fishing buddy and I headed south to fish some waters known to have my favorite species of fish, the brown trout. I was excited, especially since I hadn't caught one this year.

As we arrived a big storm with tons of thunder and flashes of lightning served up a lot of heavy rain. We decided we might take an afternoon nap to pass the time until the rains let up. It was a good plan but I never even leaned back in the seat. Sitting there looking at the water stimulated...

I must admit that the fish guide business is demanding to say the least. I have spent every day this past week trying hard to get salmon onto the flies of people fishing with me. The days are starting with an alarm going off at 2:30 AM and I am returning home at 8 or 9 in the evenings. This is as close as I have came to having a time clock to answer to since 1988 and it is proving to be demanding work.

A few weeks ago, I was at church and the pastor began to talk about what the bible says about heaven. For all of you that don't go for the whole church and God kind of thing, don't worry. I'm not here to proselytize. I'm a religious/spiritual guy and when I reflect on life and write about what is going on in my kind of off-center brain, a little background helps others understand what may sometimes make no sense at all.

Now, back to heaven. I was listening to this fantastic...

Riparian Barbarian

Posted 06-10-2014 at 09:36 AM by cimarron (Back from Valle vidal, New Mexico)

Don't know if I can do this or not, but here goes. My son lives in Rawlins, Wy and fishes the North Platte every chance he gets. He starts at the Duggway north of Sinclair and goes up to Alcova. He loves Fremont canyon! He's not an expert but he is learning rapidly. He started the "Riparian Barbarian" a month ago so any of you Wyoming fishermen or any others might want to look at his spot. I go to Google and type in Riparian Barbarian. A lot of pics and comments. Enjoy, he'd love hearing...
