The Rufus Hummingbird males have departed. It amazes me they make such an epic migration to just stay here for about 6-8 weeks, then start all over again. No wonder they beat their wings so fast.

How's the weather?

Well, had a major cold front push in today. The high was 52 degrees, the low (so far) is 44 degrees right now (3:44 pm) and dropping.
"The Peak", Pikes Peak that is, is shrouded in clouds so I can't see if it snowed up there, but I'd bet a case of Bass Ale, that it did.
Hard to believe it's only Aug 15 and I'm already thinking about how much firewood I need to get together for the long winter.
June was colder than usual and dry, very dry. All the usual hatches were at...

The Big Flush

From the Colorado Division of Natural Resources Aug 12, 2008:
South Platte River, Deckers area - With Cheesman Reservoir still spilling, Tuesday's flow was 368 cfs and the river was very clear. That will change on Monday, when flows will be hiked to around 800 cfs for a week.
This flow increase is being done to lower the water height at Cheeseman Lake to allow for repairs to the dam.
The powers that be have decided to discharge this water in an attempt to flush remaining soot...

Going fishing update

Nope. Nothing in the net. Hooked up with a few nice fish, but they all got off.
Getting used to a new rod. It's not as stiff as my old rod and I think the softer tip has something to do with the lack of good hook set. The new rod is a Sage Launch. Med/fast action 5 wt. Casts like a dream but I've just got to get used to setting the hook with it.

Going Fishing

It's finally cooling down after a long hot spell. Tomorrow the high is predicted to be 74 degrees and a 40% chance of thunderstroms. Looks like fishin weather to me. Gonna hit the Dream Stream again early to see if I can coax some fishys up on the morning Trico hatch.

I'll let ya know how it goes.
