I just LOVE

Spring fishing on the Miramichi. I hit water and weather that were just right. Casting 400gr. Sink Tips is not my idea of real fun, but the rewards make it all worthwhile.

LOL, well, it WAS a really big splash. I'm probably just not much of a judge of distance.

I thought you might like to see a fly's "before" and "after". "After" meaning hooking 7 atlantic salmon before being retired. It spent 30 minutes in the jaw of the fish in the opening pic of this thread.

Gary,

Nice catch and a well built fly to last through 7 fish. I was just replying to Casey on another thread that I use feather wings for char, trout and salmon with great results. Looks like your feather wing worked just fine.

Re: I just LOVE

It's kind of a hoot how that fly finished its career. I thought maybe I hooked a brook trout that gave up the ghost early and came in easily. turned out it was a river rock, a little smaller than a hardball, that the fly found a perfect groove in to lock itself to the rock. I've saved the rock, and as soon as I can find the epoxy somewhere in my shop, I'll put the two (fly and rock) together again for all eternity and as a great item to clutter my desk up even more. I'll post a pic when I get it done. Heck, I'll go do it now. This single malt won't go bad in the next 15 minutes...

Final resting place for the Deep Green Beauty:

Gary: Congrats on a great fish and awesome fly, I can't believe that fly is in that good of shape after seven fish! Well done!
