A 3 tailwater week!

I had the opportunity to fish the Yampa below Stagecoach, the Arkansas below Pueblo, and the Blue below Dillon.

I love how they all fish differently!

Midges are always on the menu, but fishing mysis in the Blue, scuds in the Yampa, and mayflies in the Ark was a learning experience in the differences that each individual piece of water has.

If I had to rank the fishing from hardest to easiest...
Blue
Ark
Yampa

Even though it was my 1st time on the Yampa, the fishing was incredible...

Can you guess which fish came from which water?

Sounds like you had a great trip, congrats. The bottom photo is obvisously the Blue (looks like the mall in the background). I've only fished the Yampa once and never been on the Ark, but I would gues the second photo is the Yampa.

Vitesse: That was the only way I would have been able to tell, I haven't fished those tailwaters enough to be able to tell the difference without the big clue you gave me.

Jealous...
You must be an insurance agent or something, driving around the state that much. Love seeing the photos of those bows. I have only been able to beat up Boulder Creek lately, and only catching browns (which I love, don't get me wrong, just missing some color!)
I've had a couple of great days fishing the Blue with mysis and streamers; seeing your posts just might get me to brave the crowds and cold!
The 'faux egg hatch' must have been a blast, always fun to make the others scratch their heads a bit.

I work for Vail Resorts. I'm a Sales Manager and lucky for me this year, I had meetings in Aspen and Steamboat allowing me to make trips to the Pan and Yampa. My in-laws live down in Pueblo so convincing the wife to head down there isn't too hard to do.

I'll fish the Blue every time I make a trip to the mountains.

I'm also headed to Tahoe in 2 weeks, and I'm looking forward to fishing the Truckee and Little Truckee.

I've actually never fished Boulder Creek, I just recently moved down to the front range from Silverthorne. I still own a house up there which has fishing rights on the Blue below Green Mountain, so I float that stretch all summer. Gotta love Jurassic and the Jones ranch!

What size and color of scud did you have the most success with on the Yampa?
