Default Help with line choice

So I live in Ohio and currently fish for steelhead on the Chagrin, Grand, Rocky, and sometimes PA with an 8wt Scott rod and a Lamson Guru 3.0.

I decided to give the Spey/Switch rods a shot, and ordered the Cabela's LSi 11'6" 8wt...it was on sale 40% off for $140, so you can't go wrong. I'm going to order a new reel for it as well.

My question is what kind of line do I need to go to? I was looking at the .35 Rio Shooting line, then getting a tip but I have no idea what grain Skagit to get. I already have the T8, 11, and 14 lines. Should I just get a weighted Spey line instead? I'm clueless here....

I'm guessing a shorter Skagit head that weighs between 500 to 550 grains.

I suggest an Airflo Compact Skagit head. Here is a link to a chart that suggests the correct grain weight for your rod. As explained in the introduction to the suggestion is a starting point. The Chart suggests a 510 grain line for my rod. However, I use a 570 on my 13 ft 7 wt. as it is a very fast rod and the rivers I fish requires me to bomb a long cast at times.
