Default Spring fishin: PEI Streams and Rivers

Got out for a little fish this morning on one of the many small stream rivers in PEI that empty into the ocean. Many are saying water is too cold still, theruns haven't come in yet. Still some smelts in though. Wont be long now before the schools are in.

Finally remembered to take the iphone along so I can post some pics of the water and terrain this time of year. Notice I was in the tidal zone, the tide is out a bit.

Nice thing, walking along the bank in spring, is all the cat tails are tiny little spikes barely breaking through the ground. Instead of 9 feet tall and a royal pain in the butt

Caught only one brookie; at least no skunkers

Hope you enjoy

Nice pool up stream (above tidal zone)

More down stream where tide influences water depth (notice the void under the bank)

Heading more down stream

Thanks for the pictures
I haven't been to PEI since 1971 and all I remember is beaches and potato farms

I would prolly say beaches, potato farms and trout fly fishing. Boy the waters would have been ripe with salmon and trout 40 years ago.
Good sea food too.
cheers

Phil: Great photos of an awesome looking stream! I love your handmade net along side the old gear bag, just a perfect setting for a photo!

They sure were full of trout 50 + years ago - both sea run Brookies and "Austrian" Brown Trout in some of the lakes. Don't know about the Salmon. I caught my first brown in a small lake there someplace.

Thanks,

The elusive avatar "trout", supplied by the forum folks

I just picked one of sample avatars when I registered. Will replace with the real deal once I get a decent pic.

Haha; thought of that after I posted; looks like it could pass for PEI though
