im going to visit a buddy up in michigan on the 10th. he said we can fit in some fly fishing at a local trout club or something like that. i dont know the first thing about fly fishing for trout, all my fly fishing is for bass/panfish or on the tx coast. any tips on what to tie up in advance or specifics to bring? thanks

I am sure that some of the Michigan posters will chimb in. If I was going with vary little intel, I would tie up some bugs in the following categories: caddis, mayfly, and stonefly. I would have some different sizes and colors.

If your friend is a fly fisher, ask him for some recommended patterns.

Do you have any specifics on where in MI you'll be or the rivers? MP gave you a good list of flies to have, I'll add hoppers and other terrestrials, depending on what and where you'll be fishing.
