Finally got the chance to shake off the winter blues last week-end. Took the family camping and only fished dries to some willing natives. In series - the campsite, the flies I tied and used & some of the gullible trout & other wild (tamed) life
The weather was perfect, the camp food was great and the fine Malbec(s) made the sleep come easy. The water temps were in the ~ 50 range and it was so much fun seeing some of the brookies come shooting up from deep clear pools to attack the fly.
I love this sort of 'combat' fishing, cast from behind rocks, kneeling at the tail of the pools to avoid spooking the fish. Bow and arrow casts from the brush. The quarry aren't much more than a few inches but the joy of bringing one to hand is immense.
