It was around this time last year when the water levels in the mountains bottomed out. I hope this year turns out the same. The levels are as low as I'd like to see. It's raining right now, so we should see a little improvement if the rain keeps up.
This guy would like some more rain, too.
Someone is pretty optimistic about fish size based on this leader I found.
Because of the heat I've been fishing as high up as I could get. This trip the streams are about 800 feet lower in the mountains.
Even though the water's low, it's still OK for temperature.
The fish are beginning to show some fall color and they look pretty well-fed.
Another stream that could use some rain.
It's amazing that a fish this size can get a #12 fly in its mouth like this one did.
It seems every year there are more of these around.
This one is really dark for a rainbow.
And this one is very pretty.
Just about a month left in the mountain stream season. If we get a little rain things should be good right to closing day.
