I love threads like this almost as much as I love fishing! I'm not sure what the difference is, but I'm sneaking in here from my office computer and half the pictures are blocked and half aren't. I sure wish I could see them all so I guess I'll have to see if I can come back when I get home.

Are those with spots all over the body a different strain from a certain part of the country only? I have'nt seen any like that in NY.

Great question! Not necessarily, sometimes I think it is just a matter of genetics and not strain. Here are a few examples for comparison - all from Idaho/Montana waters:

South Fork of the Snake River, Idaho:

Lower Henry's Fork of the Snake River, Idaho:

Stillwater impoundment in southeast Idaho:

No-Tellum Spring Creek, Idaho:

Birch Creek, Idaho:

Montana's Big Horn River:

Another from the stillwater impoundment in southeast Idaho:

Lower Henry's Fork:

Montana spring creek:

Silver Creek, Idaho:

So, as you can see it varies a lot. Just like people look different, so do fish, although I do believe that some dominant features will always stand out.

Kelly.
