Great shot. I can't get over that fish it's got to me 22 inches! What strain of cutthroat is that? It almost looks like a huge Westslope but it's so gold.

You better change your avatar, Davo.

Great shots, Vanish on some true beauties! Are those two different fish? Great stuff, that red is just amazing.

The second one is just a little out of focus, those darn auto focuses miss the right spot sometimes and you don't know till it's too late...look at the zipper under the woman's chin. That's crisp! If you're using a point & shoot there should a place to set the auto focus to always focus on the center of the frame...blah blah...great fish, thanks for showing those off.

Yeah, two different fish... Unfortunately, as you said, didn't realize the second shot was out of focus until we got home!

I used to sell cameras at circuit city in high school so I've done some messing around with them. There should be several different focus options. Usually the camera is set to a mode where it finds the most common depth and constant color and such and focuses on that, hence the focus on the sweater in your second photo, vanish. There should be a second option the looks something like this symbol [(.)] rather than [(::]. That may be better for focusing on fish rather than everything in the background. I may also be horribly mistaken...

On a more obviously correct note, nice fish!

Is it just me or does this look a lot like a Yellowstone Cutthroat?

Because it came from the same stream as this one, which is clearly a Snake River Cutt, and this stream is definitely in what should be SRC range:

Obviously, you never know what may have been stocked into what stream however many years ago; I just think it's interesting to catch what looks like a YCT in a stream full of SRCs.
