Fishing the Yampa — worth the drive (Vail Trail)
 
This week you may just want to jump in your car and do a little driving to some of the best tailwater fishing in Colorado. Some of you out there may be asking yourself, “What exactly is a tailwater?” A tailwater is a fishery that lies directly below a reservoir’s dam.

Thanks for the post on the Yampa tailwater article. I didn't realize that there was a tailwater in that area. Thats only a couple hours from me, I'll have to make a point to get down there this summer. Just got back from a trip to CA last weekend and I got off I-70 at Rifle and drove through Meeker, Craig and Steamboat, the Yampa was overflowing the banks near Craig, lots of farm pasture under water.
