To preface, I'm just about to start rod building and have never built one before. I'm going to buy a kit to make a spey rod and the kit includes some items that I'm not familiar with (please see picture below). Can someone tell me what purpose these components serve in the build?

I've haad this particular rod for ages now that was handed to me by my pap who has long passed... Its a, Horrocks-Ibbotson Co. Rod and I don't know the date.

I have been wanting to do something with it (unless if it'll be worth THAT much to let it sit as-is)

For the rod builders here. Can I turn this into a flyrod? Give me suggestions please. The front handle is a good fit to my hand + I can probably make a modification there. I figured the back handle can be trimmed down but where the issue lyes is extending it. I would need to adapt a compatable bamboo tip of sorts.

I never built a rod before but wondering if this can be a do-able project to get my feet wet.

I've finally decided to take the plunge and try my hand at rod making. I'm not looking to get too fancy off the start, but I'd like to know what tools you guys think are essential to do the job. By tools, I mean actual hardware, not thread, epoxy, etc.

I'm probably gonna get a rod wrapper or dryer. Do I need a cork reamer? What about files, drills, sandpaper, other stuff? Also, whats the best site to acquire rod making supplies?
