Beginner with questions
Hello, I'm very new to fly fishing... haven't even gotten to the water with it yet. I have a few Q's: Is it necessary to use a leader and a tippet or is a leader good enough? Also, what techniques should I use for fishing still water lakes? Do I use cast and retrieve methods? I have been reading about fishing streams and rivers, but haven't seen much on lakes. This is concerning lakes in the San Fran area. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you become an active member. Take a look at these two FAQ questions. You might find some of the other FAQ's useful also. 1. Is the tippet and leader the same thing? 2. What size tippet do I use? If you still have questions, fire away. Frank
