TimmyMac is on a distinguished road
Re: Colorado/New Mexico Fishing

As someone who was born in Colorado and lived in New Mexico, I have to say these reports made me unbelivably homesick as I sit here staring out the window at the streets of Boston.

Thumbs up Re: Colorado/New Mexico Fishing

TimmyMac, I hear you. While I didn't live in New Mexico proper, several decades ago I lived for 5 years in what we then referred to as New Mexico's 2nd largest city, El Paso. Needless to say, spent all my time up there skiing or fly-fishing (& monthly business in Santa Fe). When I changed jobs and moved to Ohio (you think a move to Boston from that area is bad!), I really missed the aptly-named Land of Enchantment.

Mhclayton, great report; would be very interested in your opinion on living/fly-fishing in the Ruidoso/Cloudcroft area?

MrEsox, went up to the Durango area on my last trip to the San Juan/NM last month. Non-resident one-day fishing license was only $9. Caught the largest trout (Rainbow) I've ever caught in some private water on the Los Pinos river near there - 23" and fat as a hog (I'd post the picture if I could figure out how to downsize its size to what the Forum will accept). While I've caught a lot of large trout in the San Juan on my several trips there, nothing like that 23" Durango-area Rainbow. And I caught a number of other large 16"-18" trout there as well, although of course this was private water and I don't know if the publicly-accessible water in that area would be so prolific.

Re: Colorado/New Mexico Fishing

Larry,

Thanks for the offer. Tried to PM it to you, but couldn't see a way to attach it. Can you PM me your e-mail address and I'll send it there.

Thanks,
Neil
