Re: Is it a concern before you go out ?
Quote:
I saltwater fish, usualy down here in South Florida in the spring and summer it rains frequently. Most of my outings hinge on several factors. Tides, time of day, moon phase, weather, and bait runs. Generaly try to schedule an outing around those factors. Sometimes you can check the weather for the area your fishing and everything is great, then all the sudden a out of nowhere a "freak" summer storm that could last 1/2 hour or the rest of the day. sometimes it pays to fish in the rain, (safety permitting). Alot of the tarpon and redfish I have caught, have been before, during and after rain storms.

Re: Is it a concern before you go out ?
Available time is the biggest factor, although I have my preference: early mornings. I don't worry as much about sunny and cloudy, though I might arrange things to be out when I know the weather is going to clear up. I rarely fish in the rain-unless I was already out and they were biting.
My biggest limitation is time. As I say, I like early mornings, but as many of you know, I'm a Benedictine monk and have prayers at 6:20 AM every day. I have to get special permission to skip them. The earliest I can get out without the permission is about 7:30 AM. I prefer to be on the water by then. |

Re: Is it a concern before you go out ?
Unless the weather is just too bad to get on the water (high wind or thunderstorms), I'll go any time I get a chance. I prefer the mornings and often look at tides if saltwater fishing, but I'll fish any tide or any time of day that I can go fishing.
