Help me understand this, why do you need a leader on a sinking line to turn over? Okay, I can see maybe on a river, but on stillwater, I don't understand the turn over. Even on a river, IF I am using a sinking line I still use a straight maybe 6' piece of Flouro.

I think of it as a way to prevent tangles. Getting the butt of a leader to have the same stiffness as the flyline prevents hinging at this point that could result in the fly end of the leader getting wrapped around the line/leader. It keeps a heavy fly from dropping down below the casting plane too quickly and helps transfer power to air resistant flies so they turn over powerfully.

That's my rationale anyway, the truth is that the average fly that one would cast on a sinking line turns over just fine with a level piece of tippet for the whole of the leader.

Cliff is correct. Plus, as you know, I am mainly a stillwater guy and most of my fishing is in water less than 10' deep.

Plus #1 - It is not that I need it, I get them for next to nothing, so why not?
Plus #2 - There is also the "cool" factor.
