I fished the San Juan and look......

We have just moved to El Paso Tx over the last month, and on our way down from MO, we camped and fished throughout MO, OK, CO, NM and Texas. We stopped for a day of fishing at the San Juan River in NM and I being a person who is just happy to be outdoors and not thinking I would catch anything and being okay with that, caught the biggest rainbow of my life so far. I wanted to share. I actually caught two that day. One with my favorite, a oregon cheese glowball and the second, with a stimulator. My b/f couldnt believe I caught either using these flies. I like to experiment when I am on the water...lol.

Re: I fished the San Juan and look......

Good for you! The Juan is an absolutely awesome river and I'm glad you caught some fish. The downside to the river is it's popularity. Those fish sure get schooled in a hurry. I've had them move out of the way of a sz 22, and hammer a 24 when I changed flies. We're going back up on Tuesday and are hoping to get into some fish with smaller crowds (I can hope LOL). So, where on the river did you fish?

Phil

Hi Trixie,

Congratulations on your Rainbows. Is this the egg pattern you were using?

Yes it was. I always, no matter where we fish, start with my trusty glow ball. My b/f just laughs at me, but I amaze him when I catch one right off the bat...

Re: I fished the San Juan and look......

yes I did. I tried to upload it here, but I couldnt figure out how to do it. I posted it under my photos if you can find it. If someone could tell me how to upload on this page, I could do it.

Hi Trixie,

Here is a link to a FAQ post on how to post pictures on the forum. Let me know if that doesn't do it. Also, can you tell me if the instructions are clear and not confusing.

Frank
