Introduction

Hey Guys: Just found your site and registered, hope to visit often when I can. I'm new to fly fishing, but eager to learn. I've signed for a 2 day class at LMF with Jesse King this coming weekend, so hope to learn a bit there. I've been lurking on several forums over the past couple of months but this one interests me the most because it seems that several members are from my area of East Texas--makes it seem more like visiting with next-door neighbors.

Hello Don:

Welcome to the forum. This is a great site for beginners. There are several experts moderating this forum so you should get some excellent advice.

I’m happy to see that you’re taking a fly fishing class. A good education will go a long way. Did you know that Tyler Junior College offers an evening fly fishing class also? I am the intructor. That class includes a day at Beaver's Bend State Park. In the fall, Kilgore College will probably offer a class at the Longview campus. I'll teach that class also. This May, I'll be teaching a class for Panola College at the Center campus. Hopefully you can join us some day.

Again, welcome to the forum and thanks for registering. Please keep the posts coming.

Thanks,
Steve

thefullcreel: If I'm not mistaken you gave a presentation to the East Texas Fly Fishers in Longview a few months back---great program. I have also signed up for Jim Green's fly tying class in March (just found his shop in Tyler a couple of weeks ago) If I still find I'm ignorant on what I'm doing on this fly thing I'll probably sign for your class in Longview come the fall. I'll keep you posted.

Yes, you are correct. I did give the presentation "Fly Fishing the Montana Wilderness" for the Longview club. That's a great club.

Jim Green is my good friend and an excellent fly tier. He's a good teacher too. He offers a great tying class. You'll enjoy it.

Anyway... I hope see you somewhere down the road. Perhaps somewhere on the water.

Thanks,
Steve
