Re: other fishing forum

got on here this morning just to see what's up.(call it trolling for info) and i found this post. i guess i'm not alone please read on:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No Offense to anyone on this site but over the last few months i have become irritated with certain attitudes and individuals on this site. I respect the fact that everyone has an opinion and it should be allowed to be expressed. But lately i get the vibe that people are really starting to get pretty rude and it just cracks me up. I have been fishing for Steelhead since i was born. I have learned tons of different things and learn every time im out there. Now im not a local, but i enjoy my weekend trips to Trail and Mich City. I have been a reader of this site for the last 3 years. And I think that the people here are anymore as about as rude as it gets. Now i am not talking about every individual on here, and i am not talking about every instance. There are many great guys on here and even though i may have never met them or got to know them other than on here, i almost look at them like i know them. I just think its crazy to sit and bash someone who is looking for info, or makes a mistake by naming his spot, or just in general make rude statements. And i am not just talking about people that just come on once and awhile, im talking about regulars on here that think they are gods at fishing. If you think you know so much about fishing, why not help people that are looking for info, point them in the right direction and make indiana a better fishing community. It just make me laugh when people crack on out of towners and whatnot, well last i checked the state helps fund programs that help Lakes, Creeks, Rivers, DNR, so everyone should be allowed to come out and enjoy a nice day on the water. And maybe that will help eventually allow more access to the creeks and open up even more opportunity for everyone to go to a nice creekside that is well maintained. Now i wouldnt ask anyone to give his or her spot up, but man you dont have to slam the person for asking for help. Also why bash someone that posts a report, he is doing what this site is designed for. Why bash someone that post pics of fish? For me it gives me a good indicator of the fish in the creek and the amount of time they have been there. That and it reminds me why i enjoy to do it and wants me to get out there that much more. People on here act like they own the creek and no one should fish it but them and are reluctant to give any info up whatsoever, then there are people willing to give everyone what worked for them in whatever condition they were in on that given day. That info helps people like me and most of the people on this site that come on here, which is why the site was made to begin with, to share information about the sport we all love. Trust me just because someone says they had a good day on shrimp doesnt mean im going to jump out there with a bag of shrimp and hope the fish jump in my net. Like i said before im not trying to piss anyone off and am not saying that there arent good people out there helping other anglers. For the traffic on this site though there is a heck of a lot of 2nd guessing and criticizing and it just gives me a bit of a chip on my shoulder. So for you offended people sorry, I dont know if i said everything i really felt or even expressed it the way i wanted but i just hope people look at some of these posts and think about how they respond to people new and old and learn to respect everyone on here not just the locals. And maybe some people are dont "get it" but you dont have to harass them just ignore them and they will go away. Remember this has been building up for me so im not talking about any single instance or any current topic, though you may find some of my points in a few of those, they pry werent even the instances i was talking about. So sorry that this isnt a report or an info request, just thought i would get it off my chest since im sure everyone is seeing this out there. So where is the love??

must say i rather enjoyed his post and view.

Re: other fishing forum

Well this thread has gotten more attention since Doug and Davy put on the gloves during the debate over Mucilin and fly lines.

Good work Jerry.

Re: other fishing forum

Well what do you know...

Today, I was banned from a fly fishing forum. A few weeks ago, I joined a fly fishing forum that specialized in small stream fly fishing. My love is small stream fishing so I thought I would participate in the discussions and share some of my thoughts. I posted two of my articles dealing with small streams and made a few friendly posts. At no point did I ever promote NAFFF... it was not in my signature nor in any of my posts. Its just not a good thing to do to promote another forum while posting... I would never do that. I even made a PayPal donation to that forum.

Anyway, the site admin first criticized my articles and my writing style. There seemed to be something about me that he didn't like. Then he did some searching and found out that I am the site admin for this forum. He then sent me a rude PM accusing me of talking to myself on this forum. He actually thought The Full Creel and fshfanatic were the same person. He then banned me from his forum with no reason why. I have sent two friendly emails asking him to at least give me a reason for being banned. He has not responded.

I have been nothing but friendly, cordial and professional on that forum... but was treated like low class scum. I truly resent that.

Like freeze69, I know where my friends are.

Re: other fishing forum

That is truly ridiculous. I would resent it as well if I had made a donation to the forum. I'd get that back if you can. He probably banned you so you couldn't post a warning on the forum that donating doesn't keep you from getting harrassing hate mail from their moderators.

I also don't see how somebody who can't tell that two different users WITH MULTIPLE PICTURES OF THEMSELVES POSTED are two different people, and then bashes your writing style. It sounds like the guy just has issues and takes advantage of the anonymity of the internet to act those issues out on others. I bet he's a turd on multiple websites as well.

Re: other fishing forum

Hey Steve,
I just join the same forum as well in hopes to learn more about small strem fly fishing and noticed your post. I was wondering how they were taking to you. He was not very friendly about your writing style for some reason. I was not sure what that was about. They claim not to be a good ole boy forum but their actions from what you are saying are proving them wrong.

Sorry to hear that they dropped you. I will always be a part of this forum as long as ya'll have me. Thanks for producing a great forum with great folks.

Thanks,
Terry

Re: other fishing forum

I have said this before and I will say it again. This is the best site with the best folks. It is good to go to other sites to see what we all know that this one is the best. When I ask a question on other sites, they seem not too interested in helping out. But on this one everyone is glad to help.

a couple of things first here. darkknight your link comes up the same way that mine did. secondly when i started this post i never realized it was gonna get this big.

the sad thing is that these other sites are missing out.(with the steelhead site a few people are really nice) there is so much knowledge to be given and learned that it's just totally nuts. i hope that someday these other forums sit down and check out this forum and realize what a forum is all about. I'VE SAID IT ONCE AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN: ONE BIG FAMILY. I've seen people on here pray and show concern for people that they have probally never met, talked to, or probally will ever see. but they showed concern for this person just like they would a loved one or a family member.

to the rest of the forums untill you learn what a forum is like don't even try to run one.

Re: other fishing forum

Hey Freezy Man,
Yeah, they pulled the thread pretty quick and then I got a email stating that it was none of my business about what happen to Steve's post? Let's just say I was not well received. Anyway, not much more to tell than that.
Later,
Terry
