It pays to get lifetime warrenty on expensive rods
One of the best rods I ever had I built from a Loomis blank 9' two piece 3 wt. A flaw in the blank destroyed a great rod. Fortunately, The rod(blank) was replaced for only the cost of postage. I just finished the replcement and I am heading for the San Juan this weekend. Midgeaholic

Great advice. In this day and age, I don't see any point to pay over $100 for a rod that doesn't have a similar warranty.
