Rotator Cuff surgery
About a year ago - after only a few early spring fishing trips - I tore the rotator cuff completely off my right upper arm. Ouch. Yes, it hurt. Surgery, then a long rehab with lots of physical therapy. Had to cancel a planned salmon/fly fishing trip to Alaska.
Good news is that a year later, the shoulder has come back a long way and things are looking pretty good. I haven't been fishing yet this year, but will be doing so soon. If you're facing this surgery - and it's as extensive as mine (I got this really awful feeling when the doc told me "almost beyond repair") take heart - shoulders do heal. It just takes time and effort. See you on the stream! Guy |

Re: Rotator Cuff surgery
Congratulations on the recovery and welcome back to fly fishing. Consider learning to fish with your other hand. I have bad shoulders and don't want to do the surgery, though nothing like you went through. So I learned to fish with both hands so when my shoulder hurts I can switch to the other side. Comes in handy drift boat fishing. I'm stronger with my left but a close second on the right. Long distance casts still require me to go left handed.
