Hello all! I was just wondering if anyone has any snake stories to tell? I went out fishing today on the Hiwassee river, didn't do any good, and had an interesting run in. I was practicing casting side armed when I got hung up in a tree that I was standing under. After getting my fly untangled I saw a spot I wanted to wade to. I took a step and looked down to see where I wanted to step again when I saw a "branch" under water. I was just about to step around the "branch" when I saw it move! Needless to say, it was a 2 foot Copperhead swimming along the bottom, and right at my feet (!), that I was about to step around. I froze and watched the snake, it finally swam up to a rock about 4 feet from me and watched me. I prayed that it would stay there as I backed out of the river, which the Good Lord answered my prayer and I got back to bank with the snake watching me and not moving. Of course this is nothing like the time I stepped over a coiled Copperhead sitting in the sun trying to get warm. A 747 had to swerve around me I jumped so high. I always try to be careful when fishing, becasue I'm alone 99% of the time and the closest hospital is 30 min away down a twisting river road. So does anyone else have any more intersting stories? I'm always afraid of somehow catching a snake and after today I realize that I just caint drown the thing if I hook it. Oh well everyone be careful and keep a look out.

dropped my gatorade bottle a week ago and it rolled down hill and onto a snake all coiled up under a tree limb. does that count.
