Is this water safe to wade?

How can you tell if water is safe to wade? DOwn the street from my house there is a creek, a dirty, muddy, brown creek.. loading with carp.
I'm debating wading it , but dont feel like drowning?

Any tips on how to decide if its safe to wade or not?

hey lindmar,
1st i would say fined out how deep it is,
if no one know's that you can get some
rope with a wait on it and as they say
lead line the creek.
if it up to waest maybe a little deeper
i would say ok if to deep,
fined some places to cast from shore.
anyway have fun carp are fun.
Joni will tell you.

Re: Is this water safe to wade?

This morning I went out there just to look around. While I didnt go in, I saw a Heron slowly walking across the creek. Only a few inches up to the herons legs.. so maybe it is safe...

My next concern would be sinking in the muck.

Hi lindmar,

If you have the guts to wade around in water you can't see into here are a couple of hints. Get a wading staff and feel ahead of where you will be wading. It will tell you how deep or how soft. Another idea is to get an inner tube and just tow it behind you on a tether. If you start to get stuck or too deep grab the tube and flop into it or lay across it. I would still use a wading staff even with a tube. I don't know where you are located but in the south there is always the problem of snakes.

No snake issue... just lots of carp and lots of muck.
Gotta find a wading staff.
