looking for some experienced trout gurus in the south east to bounce some questions off of..

for example, seems like we do not have the elaborate insect hatches here (georgia) that are common in other areas - so how does this effect fly selection?

If you fish Jack's River make life both simple and traditional, use a Bi Visible. Yep that's what I said, Bi Visible, be sneaky and the fish won't know what hit them.

If you fish elsewhere and there are no flies on the water then I guess I'd use whatever struck my fancy either real big or real small.

There has to be something hatching in the water, so I would turn over a few rocks as soon as I get there and see what's crawling around, then look for something that matches the size and form then the color is possible.

Joey I guide here in Georgia, what do you need to know? Our home waters are the North Georgia Mtns. and the Toccoa River just outside BluRidge. The Toccoa River produces Trophy Rainbows and Browns during the season, when the Dam is releasing water. The North Georgia Mtn. streams in the upper reaches contain Brookies, Wild Brown and Rainbows....... Lake Burton which all of these streams funnel into has Large Browns. Right now most fish can be caught with size #16 Tan Caddis Olive body and #16 BWO's in the morning hours. produces as well. Mr.Copper and other large streamers will produce once the Dam releases water in the evening..... alot of the larger Brown are caught around that time! The Hooch also is productive in the lower half from Morgan Falls Dam, Shoal Bass,Rainbows and Browns can be hooked during the early morning hours and the Shoal Bass hit any large Metallic streamer patterns such as Mr.Copper and de Silver these can be purchased at FlyShop off of Barrett Parkway ... we've landed some very nice Trout in and around the Shoals where the Trout has cover, the heavier grassy area is great places for Shoal Bass and in the timbers.......If I can be of any service please look us up!
