Hi Mike,
Sorry you lost a nice fish. There are a few things you might think about. 1. Use a 2X heavy hook for the first fly if you tie onto the first fly bend. 2. Use a larger hook for the first fly that is 2X heavy if you tie onto the bend. 3. Tie to the eye of the first fly. 4. Use a Improved Clinch knot and tie the second fly to the main line just in front of the first fly. You can also use a Uni knot instead of the Improved Clinch. Frank
