I matched the hatch

Just wanted to share a successful flyfishing experience I had on a lake by my dad's house. I have been trying to see what the fish will bite on. They go for the usual subsurface fare: minnow imitators, woolly worms, nymphs that are big enough to catch their eye, but I'd been unsuccessful with dries. One night I noticed this mayfly by a light.

I was at the lake late evening a few days later fishing with my spinner and noticed that after the sun goes down, most of the fish stop hitting minnow imitators and instead start striking something on the surface. I looked around and noticed a disturbance on the surface. A few seconds later, SLAM, a fish took whatever it was into the depths. It turns out that the thing twitching on the surface was the yellow mayfly from the other night. So I went home and tied this fly.

I don't know how accurate I really needed to be. At dusk, I doubt that color really matters and the wing is really only for me, so I can see the thing in the low light conditions if it starts to lose buoyancy. However, with a size 10 3x long nymph hook, I think I got the general size and dimensions basically correct. The fish seem to think so anyway. I've caught dozens of bluegill and sunfish with this fly. It's so much fun. I watch the surface for fish that are rising, and basically sight-cast to them. Since I'm on the shore, fishing the shallows, most are panfish. However, I've caught a few larger bass...

Fun stuff... Please see my photos below.

Sorry about the too-big images in the OP. Erm...how am I supposed to replace the deleted images with smaller ones if I can't edit my post? Fish Bones, if you can insert these images into my original post and delete this post, that would be great. If not, here's the smaller sized images so the OP makes sense to people reading it.

Re: I matched the hatch

You could call it an Extra-long Yellow Adams With Wing, but that's a little wordy. Maybe a good name would be something like, Evening Yellow.
