Success!

When I decided to take up fly fishing, I was really after only one thing: smallmouth bass. Tonight, I landed my first smallie on the fly.

He nailed my olive wooly bugger almost as soon as it hit the water. He was only about 10 inches, but to me he felt like 10 pounds.

Re: Success!

You gotta love it when they seem to see that fly coming and BANG! I love bass on a fly rod- I fish them mostly with a 5 weight, but am practicing my big fish reeling techniques by fishing for bass on a lake with my 2 weight- lot's of fun!

Congrats! That first fish on a fly rod.....or for that matter, any fish is always a thrill.
