Re: White Bass
I used to catch white bass on my boat on lake erie while spin fishing for walleye. I just had this great Idea to take the fly rod out on a calm day and see if I can get some white bass ona fly rod! what a blast it would be. was gonna use some clousers and crappie candy flies.

Re: White Bass
We've caught them with Chartreuse and White Cluser Minnows. They are indeed a blast if you find them "in the jumps", schooling and busting shad on the surface.

Re: White Bass
Those are a hoot when you get them on top---Last may, we finished the day in the Detroit River with a 2 hr nonstop blitz ---2 strips and hook up a fish---I used a silverish crease fly or a lightly weighted clouser with a lot of white and flash

Re: White Bass
I was visiting centeral texas recently and went out to the "white run" on a local river. Never seen such a thing with bass! Limited out two days straight (25/day) with an average fish length of 12 1/2 inches. Very cool experience.
We were throwing #12 clousers with bead chain eyes in white, whte/chart, and white/olive. |

Re: White Bass
SWEET! My wife and I drove through Tennessee in 2006, and the streams
and rivers looked great. A #10 olive wooly bugger has been my primary "fly" since this past December. I tie it with either a gold bead, or small green bead chain eyes. The bead chain seems to work better for me. |
