I fish year round also. In Idaho and Utah. Days where ice forms on the guides every other cast. Still breathables. Thin Skin Nylon bottoms and tops followed by Fleece Bibs and a wool jacket...still easier to move than neo's, but just as warm....Just my opinion and I use to wear neo's.
It doesn't seem like they can be warm and true it is what you have underneath, but they can be down right toasty. Wind is the biggest chill factor, and breathables block the wind.

I think I will probably rent. Are streams fishable without waders at all? I mean can they be fished off the bank? Thanks for all info.

The Big Thompson is lined with shrubs and trees very tight from the town down. In the RMNP just inside the Estes entrance there is a nice stretch of meadow stream (still the Big T I think or Fall River)that you can bank fish. Check this out for some ideas Fishing in Estes Park, Colorado - gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park It's beautiful up there, you're gonna love it.

A flask of whiskey don't hurt either . Just be careful not to fall down and get hurt.

Re: need help with waders!

You didn't say how many days you were going for. Day or two, maybe three, I agree rent. Any longer maybe buy used and sell or buy new and sell.

Me, I'm poor so I try to get the best bang for my buck.

Spend a bit of time watching Ebay and pick up a pair for a good price. Turns out to be something you enjoy, you still have them.

Not for you, sell them on E-Bay when you return.

Either way, I hope you have a great trip.

Good point, how many days? On another forum, a gentleman bought these:

Toggs Breathable Waders & Jackets

second pair of waders down.

It has been two months and they seem to still be going good.

Hey Joni, that's a great deal on those waders. We've been in a major hot spell here and even for a cold blooded lizard like me, the neos have been getting a little warm.
