Re: Bamboo Fly Rods
probably a montague---there are some websites to see what the value might be---i had one and you could time the backcast with a calander---pretty much unfishable---gave it away with a hardy with a shortened tip for use as a wall decoration---they are very collectable and nice to admire the craftsmanship

Re: Bamboo Fly Rods
Montague sound right on the one rod..if it is a Montague - they were lower end production rods..hard to tell what it woud be worth.... In general the sorter the rod the more it is worth. So depending on the length and condition the others might be worth something. Here is a link to a really iinformative bamboo site. Your best bet is to find someone in your area who has alot of Bamboo experience and who might be able to identify and place a value on the rods for you. Someone on the below site should be able to point you in the right direction....by the way....bamboo is great to fish so you ought to try the rods out

Re: Bamboo Fly Rods
I am going with the Montague also. There were a bunch back then like H.I. They were Sears and Roebucks...CHEAP....and still are. Around $20. on the average. They are heavy in weight and most were heavy line.
A lot of people take the top two sections and put a cork on it and call it a BANTY. THAT IS NOT A TRUE BANTY! it is a sawed off bamboo. Bantys have a special taper for a short stick. I have a couple of these old bamboos...to say thay are collectors...I don't think so, they will never be worth any money. Collector to me, It was my grandfathers and then my mothers so, there is no price on it. |

Nope, ain't worth nothin, all garbage.
Here's my address and some cash for shipping. lol Even if they turn out to be low end Bamboo, you should keep them for wall decor as shorthaul mentioned.
