Dorber fly rods

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has heard of or uses a dorber fly rod. I came across their web site (global dorbeR group) recently and I'm curious about their reputation.

Check this out...
Bob Brunsell’s Li’l Streamer: A Great Little Rod.
I've really considered getting this rod if for no other reason I can keep it in my Jeep fully rigged for the small streams in our area that just seem to small and overgrown to work with a longer rod.

I looked at their site cause the old man just built a nice little 3wt for a friend and they are sweet sticks, but where are you finding light weight 10' ers?

Re: Dorber fly rods

I have known Ray Bauer, the owner of Dorber Group, and his father Tiny for twenty or more years. I actually have two 10 foot 1 weights but have never built the second one. When I break the old rod I will build the blank. I don't know if the 10 footers are on the site, so send Ray or Jeff an email and I am sure you can get a 10 footer. I still have several of their blanks, both 10 foot and 9 foot, that I kept when I closed my store in Mountain Home last year. If Ray is out of stock I could sell you one of mine.

Re: Dorber fly rods

Hi, I am Tomas from Slovakia, Europe. I am loking for long and light nymph rod blank - something look like 10 ft, 1wt Dorber. In my country, or in Europe I didn`t find it.
What do you think, is possible for me to get this blank from USA?
Is this blank good for light nymphing on rivers, and to catch some graylings or brown trout?

Thanks

Thumbs up Re: Dorber fly rods

I bought a 6wt. DReach while I was out in that area during Conclave. I absolutely love it. I had used one that a friend had purchased last year. It shoots line really well. He bought two more rods while we were there too. A spinning rod and another D Reach. They put our names on for no extra charge too.
