New Winston Vapor.

Was wondering if any of you guys have had a chance to
fish the new Vapor rod by Winston? If so, is it worth the tab?
Cheers,

Snuffy

Re: New Winston Vapor.

I have not fished the Vapor but have the Ascent and can say it is a very fine rod. I can recommend it fully without reserve.

Re: New Winston Vapor.

I have seen ads for this rod.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this one of those new " lower end $ rods" made by the big boy rod makers overseas ? They are having them made somewhere else other than England/USA to reduce the cost to the consumer,
right.

My question would be are they as good, but I see that one reply mentions that his Vapor works rather well. If that's the case then why not buy one. I have looked at the Launch by Sage & liked what I saw.

It does take a rocket scientist to see that if a $200 rod works well, why not buy one, unless you'd rather spend $600. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying $600 rods & $200 are equal comparisons, but if you're just starting out, why not spend less.

Always in the water,

Tie One On

Re: New Winston Vapor.

These rods were designed by the Winston team but are rolled offshore to cut costs. they are still Winston quality though.

I have been fishing long enough that I have used everything from the top of the line to some of the crappiest rods ever made and can tell you that these are not subpar rods in any regard. They are great casting and fishing tools made by a company that knows how to make rods. They are also put together very well.

They look good, have superb hardware, and carry the Winston unconditional lifetime warranty.

Why pay more?

Re: New Winston Vapor.

Thanks for the input. Have been flyfishing for about a dozen
years. Have tried the expensive and the middle priced equipment.
Do just as well with the less expensive. Did some casting with
a GLX and could get between 80 and 90 feet with a cast, casting
my old Orvis GRF 1000-XP my casts were almost identical. Both
of these rods were 7 weight and strung with Airflo 40+ WF7F lines.
Never owned a Winston but will try the Vapor. Once again, thanks
for the help.

Snuffy

My wife bought me the 906-4piece Vapor for my birthday and I have only been able to take it out once so far, but I have to say I am very impressed with it. I would love to get the Winston Boron IIx 3wt for the Apache Trout in the white mountains! Oh my god that would be incredible..

Our 20th wedding anniversery is coming up, along with the wifes bday & valentines day, so I am thinking it will probably be awhile.
