Hi everybody
Im new in this forum. My name is Daniel and I from Argentina.
Im just wondering if any of you can helpe in this issue.
Im just about to purchase a new rod in the 7 or 8 wt, but I am not tottaly sure about which rod is best.
I am looking for a very fast rod that can throw big flies easily in a big a windy river.
Wich rod would you recommend?
The Sage z-axis or the redington ss??

Hi Daniel, welcome to the forum. Two good rods. The Redington is $100+ cheaper but it weighs more than the Sage. If price is not driving your choice, I would go with the Sage in the 8 weight. This is my gut feeling as I have not casted them. I do own several Sage 8 weight rods and they have all been good rods.

Hi Daniel, I own several Sage rods and am a Redington dealer. I have not thrown the Z Axis, but have fished the SS. Both manufacture top notch rods. You may want to take a serious look at the Redington CPS. This rod has won numerous awards and was a top pick by Fly Rod & Reel Magazine among 54 8wt & 9wt rods, most costing 2-3 times as much. They are powerful and fast and have become my personal favorites. Here is an excerpt from the FR&R article:

The Redington CPS fly rods are sterling examples. Most fly fishermen recognize that these rods are special from the moment they first get their hands on one. That was certainly the unanimous reaction of our 2006 test crew. We were impressed by the smooth, progressive connectedness of the Redingtons action, which yielded a feeling of confident control at all distances. If that sounds like wine label talk, perhaps I should add that tester Scott Wood easily threw the whole line (even with a bass bug).We also observed that the flowing power in these rods noticeably enhances the capability to tighten loops and repair sloppy casts in mid-air. If you can get a try on various rods and price is not a concern try the 8wt Sage TCR for wind and big river...once you get the feel for it the TCR does the job in wind

I just purchased a Sage Z Axis this week in a 7wt.

Excellent rod.........cast better than my Sage XP rods......I would go with the Sage Z Axis........you won't be disappointed

But of course cast both of them.......It's like buying a Chevy or Ford.....personal choice & what fits "you" the best not someone else
