Ross Rods

Has anybody heard or seen anything on the new rods Ross is introducing this year? I've been very happy with the reels and was curious about the rods.

Re: Ross Rods

Hi Davo,

It looks like Ross Worldwide has rods. It is called the Ross Essence. Just what we need, another overseas rod. It only has a one year warranty.

Frank

The Essence FS rod series comes with the following standard features:
  • Ross proprietary R-1 graphite design
  • Medium-fast action rod taper, perfect
    for any casting style
  • 4-piece design - great for travel!
  • Smooth casting, sensitive and precise
  • Titanium oxide, super strong guides
  • Rod piece alignment dots
  • Anodized aluminum reel seat
  • Durable synthetic cork handle,
    half wells grip (3wt. - 6wt.),
full wells grip with fighting butt
    (7wt. and up)
  • Cordura rod case and
    protective rod sock included
  • One year warranty

Re: Ross Rods

Frank;

From there website I found they have to grades above the Essence FS which has the one year warranty. The Essence FC and FW come with a lifetime warranty. The fly shop here in town where I got my Ross reels is a dealer for the rods as well. I'll try to get down there over the weekend and see have a couple I can toss.

Also I thought Ross was out of Colorado.

Re: Ross Rods

We haven't been overly impressed with the 'worldwide' imported reel line, as a dealer we don't intend to carry the rods either. Ross USA, rocks...

Ross USA is in CO (around the corner from Scott), 'Worldwide" line is offshore... we have wondered why they didn't get together to work that market together, it obviously comes down to margins.

Thanks for the clarification. Guess I might not bother then. Just go with the Orvis rods I was looking at for new client rigs.

Have you talked to Sage about the guide program? FLi makes a great client rod, and key employee/guide pricing is below wholesale.
