I got a 5wt and love it. It casts great into a hard wind, I can pull big weighted flies out with ease and less casting cause it gets done the first time. Very sensitive and light in the hand. It is harder to mend though. Anyone have reviews or thoughts?

As the forum knows I'm salt so my rods are 8 and above but the 10 wt TCR is my favorite all round rod...bonefish in wind...permit any conditions and tarpon when 11 and 12 are too much...but mine the 10 wt and the 9 wt were blanks which I made up...to cut costs.

I am glad to hear you like your TCR. It is a super high line speed rod for casting in the wind as you have noted. It is one rod that I don't recommend anyone buy with out test casting first. I find your comment about mending line very interesting. With a stiff tip like the TCR has I can see how it might be a problem. Have you tried mending from a high tip position with slack falling from the tip. I think this might be your best way to mend. It would be some what like a reach cast but would be done to mend line. I think the TCR rod is best suited for Saltwater fishing in the 8wt to 12wt.

SAVE BIG!! If anyone here is thinking of buying a tcr, start casting them from your local flyshop to see which ones you like, because within the next 6 months they are going to be discontinued and your shops will be selling them at %30 -%40 off!!

I like them pretty well, but view them as a fairly specialized tool. They're perfect for situations where you need to cast far or beat the wind and don't need a ton of power deep in the rod. I wouldn't want one if I expected to be casting under 30' at all.

Frank the 6wt is quite nice too. I'd call it a perfect calm day small-medium bonefish rod.
