Re: Tfo--or--echo

Well... to me, they're both very similar in action and feel. They both have lifetime warranties. They both look very nice.

The Echo comes with a rod tube but the TFO does not.

Re: Tfo--or--echo

tractman,
This seems to be the million dollar question for most people around here. I have one of each and I like both. I lean toward my TFO Pro 4wt most of the time now. The Echo 3wt is great for the small streams. Both cast very nicely.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Terry

Re: Tfo--or--echo

I'd go with the ECHO, even if it didn't come with the tube. I haven't cast that particular TFO rod, but the rods in the Pro series I have cast all have an action better suited to long powerful rods. (my 8'6" 3wt included, its a boomer for a 3wt.) I'm not saying the TFO is a bad choice, as I can think of many worse options, I just think the ECHO is the better choice here.

Another factor, for warranty work, you would have to ship the TFO to Dallas, and the ECHO to a burb of Portland, OR. Since you're in Cali, this should make the turnaround faster for the ECHO due to ground shipping transit time, and likely cheaper as well.

Re: Tfo--or--echo

the big question is how do they cast for you? does the full creel offer a return policy?

secondary may be the look. i like the looks of the echo (except for the logo). nice green blank, wood insert, with unusual wood butt end plug. the TFO would be satin black with gold writing and a grey graphite/weave insert. at least my 9' 5wt is like that.

Re: Tfo--or--echo

I have the TFO pro, but I would trade it in a heartbeat for the ECHO. Doesn't it come with the accuracy and the casting tips? I mean the two different action tips is a brilliant idea. Two rods for the price of one.

Re: Tfo--or--echo

The ECHO Classic comes with one tip while the ECHO 2 comes with... you guessed it... two.

The two tips on the ECHO 2 works as advertised.

Re: Tfo--or--echo

Joni,
Here's a review that our Dougm wrote a while back that may give you some detail about the two tips:

The Echo 2 Series

I've been debating about this one and the TFO for a long time now but may be considering a 5wt in the Echo2 sometime soon.

I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Terry
