And now, for once, it can be said that I spoke up on behalf of Orvis.
I take it that your not a fan of Orvis, how come? I was looking at their Rocky Mtn Large Arbor reel.

I'm almost neutral on my opinion of Orvis, and I just let those who are bigger fans give them all the needed recommendations. Orvis puts out some good stuff, at good values, but by and large, you get less 'go for your dough' with them, and are supporting their massive advertising approach.

To me their kinda like the Heineken of fly tackle. Better than average, and worth a bit more, but lots better options out there, many for less money.

Re: I need a new reel...

Thanks for all the info guys. I ended up buying an Orvis Battenkill 3/4 this morning. It balances pretty good with my rod and I got a great deal on it.
