Re: New reel help...
Hi Sesro
If I were you I'd take that Battenkill back to Orvis and see what they can do to fix the problem. As for reels in your price range you might take a look at the Battenkill Large Arbor while you at it too. I have a bunch of different Orvis reels and have like them all( CFO, Battenkill Discs).

Re: New reel help...
There are so many great choices. I have a 5 wt Sage Fli as well. I set it up with an Orvis Mid Arbor and purchased an extra spool to hold a sink tip line. I've been using it a LOT this winter/spring and have been quite satisfied. Reel cost is $119 and extra spool was about $69. I lucked out and bought it this winter when orvis was running their 10% off price plus they included the Wonderline. I ended up getting the Reel and line for $100. But, it would definitely be worth the regular price.

Re: New reel help...
that orvis mid arbor always seems to be popular from forum reading. i'd take a look at a galvan standard arbor too, though a bit more expensive a reel, it should come in just under your limit new.
