Reel and Line for ECHO 3wt
Can anyone give me some advice on what would be a good reel and line match for the ECHO 7'6" 3W. This will be for trout on the small streams of NY with mostly dry flies in mind. I would like to spend less than $100 on the reel if possible as I would rather put the money into a good line and misc gear.
Great Site Here!! CHEERS.. |

Re: Reel and Line for ECHO 3wt
Hi 11LAKES,
Welcome to the forum. I think the Selective Trout II would be a good choice and the DT may be the best choice. The DT would be the best for roll casting and making short cast. Frank RIO Selective Trout II ![]()

Re: Reel and Line for ECHO 3wt
Thanks for the welcome. I had actually heard that was a good trout line. What about cortland lines? Also, I am really wondering what reel will balance out this rod? Any advice is welcome..
Cheers... |

Re: Reel and Line for ECHO 3wt
I use Terenzio Zandri silk lines and learders.
fishbamboo.com I found a great machined aluminum, roller bearing reel for less than 60 bucks here. Product Store Display It helped make up for what I payed for the lines. If it makes ya happy, it aint bad. |

Re: Reel and Line for ECHO 3wt
I caught about 40 fish today on my 3wt with a Ross Cimarron 1 and a WFF SA XPS line. I'd say it did fine.
I really think that line is about perfect for 3wts. Its got a long front taper to present flies delicately, and the short head makes it work like a shooting head if you know how to work it. I was even casting poppers and clousers with mine today.
