Reel Opinions...

I am looking to buy a reel... I've narrowed down to the following... I am considering:

>Redington Titanium CDL 7/8
>Lamson Guru 3
>Lamson Velocity 3
>Lamson Litespeed 3
>Ross Rhythm 3.5
>Ross CLA 4
>Ross Evolution 3.5
>Teton Tioga 8 LA

Any comments and/or personal experiences are more than welcomed... Please tell me you top three picks...

Re: Reel Opinions...

From the list of your choice I owned 2 w/c are Lamson Velocity and Lamson Litespeed. I prefer the Litespeed. Light and sleek design.

I dont own the other brands so I can not really comment on them.

This is just my opinion.

Re: Reel Opinions...

I also own a Lamson Lightspeed IMO it has the smoothest drag system I've used. All Lamson reels use the same drag system so its personal choice on the model. Some of the older reels had issues with the drag rusting but that was on saltwater and the newer reels do not have this issue... plus Lamson has lifetime warranty and great customer service.
I can only compare the customer service to Orvis as that is the only other reel (battenkill II) I've ever had the pleasure to try and get replaced and they said since I ran it over with my jeep they wouldnt replace it, lol. But they did replace the Orvis rod I ran over at the same time, but it was a hassel to get them to do it since I never filled out the warranty card.

Re: Reel Opinions...

There are a lot of good reels out there,
here is about as much as I know about
LA/MA reels from experience.
Son uses a Ross Evolution & loves it.
My preference is the Galvan Torque.
Good luck!

Re: Reel Opinions...

I like both Lamson and Ross reels very well. The Lightspeed is about the best combo of light and tough on the market.

Re: Reel Opinions...

The Galvan Torque or OB models are equally impressive. I have both and love the durabilty and smoothness. These reels are made in the USA , light weight, compare them to other brands and are well built.

Re: Reel Opinions...

Tranquilidad,

You included several Ross reels in your list.
For what it is worth, their Site shows some
of their 2009 models. Worth a look before
you buy.
