Temple Fork Outfitters TFR 375 Large Arbor Reel
Anyone have any experience with the TFO reels, specifically the Large Arbor Reel model TFR 375?
I was planning on using it for Salmon fishing here in Midwest (sourthern WI). |

Re: Temple Fork Outfitters TFR 375 Large Arbor Reel
I bought one for my son's 8 weight to use in Alaska this summer. We just got back, and I had a chance to fish it, too. It tamed a bunch of 25+ inch Rainbows. I liked it as well as the Lamson Litespeed that I was using most of the time. It is a little heavier, but not out of balance on the rods we were using. All in all, a rugged reel that is well made with a great drag. The best part is that I picked it up on closeout at Sportsman's Warehouse this summer for $99 (reduced from $249).
I first read about it on George Anderson's website; the infamous "Eight Weight Shoot-out" where he initially panned the TFO TiCr2 rod, but then in a follow-up note wrote that he later had an opportunity to fish it in combination with the TFR 375 reel, and it was everyone's favorite combo on that trip. He also noted that the TFR 375 reel was the best wide-arbor design he had used. |
