One question about flies

I fish Trouts in colorado rocky mountains rivers and lakes.
So I went to the store and the guy told me to put
Leader - tippet 6 - Fly - Tippet 5 - ant or other kind of bug that sinks

and i dont know about fly fishing really well but i think thats not necessary
What should I use to fish trouts guys?
1 or 2 flies?
what kind?

thanks for the answers

Re: One question about flies

Starting out, its probably best to stick to one fly. When your casting and line management improves then you can go for two.

I prefer using only one fly. If conditions dictate, I will use another (a dropper). Fishing a dry fly with a nymph dropped off of that can be a deadly combination. However, is does create more chances for tangles until you get the hang of it.

Two nymphs can work well also. Go to: Double Nymph Rig Question

Not sure I understand what you are saying, but if this is the order, first off, you would want the heavier tippet first in other words, Leader, 5X fly, 5X or 6X (depending on what size dropper-I would still use 5X on trout) then dropper.
Second, what does he mean saying ant or other that sink, I would want the ant to float, terrestrials.
I agree, if you are new, try just one fly at a time, when you get secure in your casting try a dropper.
